How long has Gage been in business?

We have been in business since 1991. Gage was one of the first to offer home study continuing education to radiologic technologists, and we continue to be a leader in the field of continuing education. We have over 120,000 satisfied customers, please see our Customer Testimonial page.

Which licensing organizations accept our courses

Our courses are accepted for the ARRT® certification and registration, NMTCB, RCIS, AMRIT, (select courses), ARDMS (select courses), all States and Canada.  Any organization that accepts courses which are approved by the ASRT will honor all of the courses we offer.

"Company X" advertises that their courses are "ARRT® Certification and Registration Approved", are your courses ARRT® approved?

The ARRT® certification and registration does not approve courses. Course approvals must come from an ARRT approved RCEEM (Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism). A RCEEM is a quality control mechanism for CE activities.Gage home study courses are approved by the ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists), an ARRT® approved RCEEM. For ARRT® continuing education requirements, go to their website at www.arrt.org

I am a member of NMTCB and have an NCT certificate. What are the continuing education requirements?

Certification must be renewed annually and the NMTCB(CT) certificant must consistently maintain certification in their primary nuclear medicine, radiography, or radiation therapy credentials as either "active", "in compliance" or "in good standing".  The NMTCB(CT) certificant is required to obtain a total of 12 hours of CE specific to CT in each 2 year CE cycle. For complete information, visit the NMTCB website.

What is Structured Education and how can I earn credits to satisfy the requirements?

There are eleven post-primary areas that the ARRT® certification and and registration has identified for post-primary certification.  Under each sub-category there are courses listed that meet all or some of the structured education requirement.  When you click on the category and course you are interested in, the course information will be shown on the screen.  The information regarding the number of credits and category the course falls under will be shown in the Product Specifications on our website under the category Structured Education / CQR Requirement Courses. The ARRT® certification and registration has posted information at their website, which in part, states that for technologists who would like to persue post-primary accreditation, The ARRT® certificaiton and registration has initiated a program which outlines the educational eligibility requirements for certification and registration in mammography, computed tomography, bone densitometry, cardiac-interventional radiography, vascular-interventional radiography, vascular sonography, breast sonography, magnetic resonance imaging and sonography.  These accreditations will require structured education and clinical experience requirements.

Structured Education Requirement:

Candidates for post-primary certification and registration are required to complete 16 hours of structured education related to the content outlines for that exam. Acceptable forms of structured education include:

      1. Academic courses from an institution accredited by a mechanism recognized by the ARRT® for an academic degree,
      2. CE opportunities approved by a RCEEM or RCEEM+,or
      3. A combination of the two options.

Candidates will need to document at least one CE credit or its equivalent of structured education in each certification and registration content category; the remaining hours may be distributed among any categories of the content outlines.

More information about these requirements can be found at the ARRT® website, or you may call them at (651) 687-0048

What is CQR and how do I earn credits to satisfy this requirement?

As health care technology evolves, and patients demand increased accountability from providers, many credentialing agencies—including ARRT® certification and registration - have created long-term requirements for maintaining credentials. All R.R.A.®s, and R.T.®s who’ve earned their credentials on or after Jan.1, 2011, must complete the  ARRT® certification and registration Continuing Qualifications Requirements (CQR) every 10 years. CQR helps identify gaps in knowledge and skills that might cause you to fall behind today’s entry-level qualifications. It then develops a plan for refreshing your understanding and abilities.  These Continuing Qualifications Requirements (CQR) will help you assess and improve your knowledge—and your ability to provide high-quality patient care. It will also help you refresh your understanding of areas in which you might not currently practice.

Top Five Things to Know About CQR

  1. CQR applies to any credentials that you've earned after January 1, 2011, or if you are an R.R.A.®
  2. You'll complete CQR every ten years for each eligible discipline, and will have three years to complete the process. They will notify you when your window opens.
  3. The Structured Self-Assessment (SSA) is not a test—and you can't fail it.
  4. You can use most prescribed CQR CE for your biennium CE.
  5. In most cases, there is no cost for CQR.

What is the difference between A and A+ credits?

A+ credits are credits that are used for Radiologist's Assistants (RA). These Radiologist's Assistants (RA) must take A+ credits.   If you are a radiologic technologist (RT) only, you can take either A or A+ credits.

Am I allowed to repeat courses?

According to the ARRT® certification and registration continuing education requirements, effective January 1, 2016 Lecture presentations, advanced level CPR, directed readings, home study courses, or internet activities may only be reported once within a given biennium for compliance with the biennial CE requirements. The CE activities may be repeated for compliance with the biennial CE requirements for subsequent biennia.  If the technologist has been placed on CE probation, the technologist is not allowed to repeat the same course.

Are your courses approved for my state continuing education requirements?

Many states that have continuing education requirements will accept American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) approved courses. Our courses have been approved by the ASRT and the State of Florida. We also indicate whether courses are accepted for California and if they are direct or indirect for the state of Texas. If you are unsure whether your state will accept our courses, please check our "Shop by State" map on our home page. You will find information there for each state as well as contact information for your state licensing department.

How do your home study courses work?

Completing our homestudy course is easy. Each course includes a book and one post test. The test is open book and can be completed at your leisure. Exam questions are divided into sections to coincide with the textbook chapters. This makes it easy to do a chapter or two at one sitting, then return and easily begin where you left off. The exam questions are multiple choice and True/False. A passing grade is 75%. When your course is completed, you return the answer sheet to us.   Each test expires one year from the date of purchase, so your test must be submitted to us within one year in order to receive a certificate of completion. You may take the test through our online testing site at test.gagece.com, fax, e-mail, or mail the answer sheet. Taking the test through our online testing site is the fastest way to take your test and receive your certificate.  You can fax or e-mail your answer sheet and you should receive your results the same day, provided you sent your test during our normal business hours. Upon receipt of your answer sheet, your test will be graded. A score of 75% is needed to pass the test. Your certificate of completion will be faxed or mailed to you the day your answer sheet is graded. If your certificate is faxed or arrives on the weekend, it will be faxed or mailed to you on the next business day.

Where can I find my test Key?

Your test key can be found in several places; in your profile and downloads which appears at the top right corner of our screen after you login; in the receipt email you were sent when you ordered your course; and on the test answer sheet.  The test key is the 8 digit number that identifies the test to our system and is unique to your order.  You must have this number to enter the online testing site.  For further information, please watch our "How to Find your Test Key" instructional video by clicking here.

What date of completion will be on my certificate?

The date of completion will be the date we receive your test by fax or e-mail or mail. Please note that tests are only graded during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME). Certificates are dated with the date and Eastern Standard Time that they arrive in our office.  If a test is received after midnight EASTERN STANDARD TIME, the certificate will be dated for the next day.  When using the online testing portal, the date of completion will be the date and time that the "Grade Test" was clicked.  PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ON EASTERN STANDARD TIME.  Any tests submitted for grading after 11:59 PM EST will have the next day's date.

Do you report the credits to the ARRT® certification and registration?

We do not report your credits to the ARRT® certificaiton and registration. At the end of a biennium or reporting period, they will notify the technologist that it is time to renew.  The technologist will login to their account at the ARRT® certification and registratopm and list the CE activities.  Once the CE requirements are met, the technologist is allowed to renew.  A random sample of registrants will be selected and asked to provide copies of documentation of CE participation. This documentation is the certificate of completion we send to you. When you receive your certificate of completion from Gage Continuing Education, be sure to keep it in a safe place in case you are audited. For the requirements for continuing education, go to the  website at www.arrt.org
