VA Plans to Allow CNP to Take and Interpret Xrays

According to the ASRT, the Department of Veterans Affairs proposes to allow A CNP has full practice authority to: Order, perform, supervise, and interpret laboratory and imaging studies.  The ASRT opposes this change and wants to make sure our veterans receive the best care possible. Only registered radiologic technologists should perform highly technical medical imaging procedures.

The ASRT has asked for clarification of this proposal.  You can read the entire article at:

A and A+ Credits

We have many technologists ask us what the difference is between an "A" rated and "A+" rated credits and the requirements for taking these credits:

If you are a Radiologic Technologist and hold any type of desingation, you must have at least 24 CEUs per biennium and they can be either "A" OR "A+" credits.

If you are a Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) you must have at least 50 CEUs per biennium and they must be "A+" credits.

Typically the courses that we offer as "A+" courses tend to me in a more advanced topic, however that doesn't mean that an "A+" course will be too difficult for the Radiologic Technololgist.  Since all of our courses are multiple choice, and follow the book, any technologist will be able to comprehend and pass the test.

Changes to Texas Licensure

Senate Bill 202 transferred four occupational regulatory programs from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Medical Physicists, Medical Radiologic Technologists, Perfusionists, and Respiratory Care Practitioners will now be regulated by the TMB and each occupation’s respective board/advisory committee.

This means that instead of the Department of Health handling the licensure and renewals of radiologic technologists, they have transferred this function to the Texas Medical Board.  The requirements for continuing education remain the same, it's just that the credits get reported to a different agency.  Plese visit the Texas Medical Board Webpage by clicking here: http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/page/resources-ce-for-GMRT

There is also a web page with details on the new renewal process.  Please visit the the wep page at:  http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/page/Renewal-Full-MRT

Where can I find the RCEEM number?

Many technologists call us to ask where to find certain information that they need in order to renew their licenses.  The most frequent question is "where can I find the RCEEM number".  This number appears on the bottom half of the certificate and is shown as "ASRT(RCEEM) Reference Number" and it always starts with the letters "FLZ".

Where is my Test Key?

Are you trying to locate the test key so that you can use the online testing portal?

The Test Key is found in the receipt email which was sent when you completed your order. Locate the description of the course you purchased.  Just under the course description you will see the words "Test Key" followed by an 8 digit number.  These 8 digits are your personal test key.

Please read through the receipt email for all instructions for completing an online test.
